    There are two possible external ignition coils for the XR 400 R 1996-2004 models. This external ignition coil doesn't have a spark plug cap. The other external ignition coil with cap is RM06016. Please compare to your original part before buying.

    Screw cap(s) on the new external ignition coil.
    Remove the yellow wire from external the ignition coil, if it is not applicable to your model.
