SUPER NICE
GREAT WHITE SHARK TOOTH
REPLICA
,
1&1/4 INCHES LONG!!! A PERFECT TOOTH. PERFECT SERRATIONS.
YOU CANNOT TELL THIS FROM THE ORIGINAL!!!
THE ORIGIONAL TOOTH CAME FROM A RECORD GREAT WHITE SHARK CAUGHT ON AUGUST 6TH, 1986 BY FRANK MUNDUS. IT WEIGHED 3,427 POUNDS AND WAS 17 FEET LONG. CONSIDERED THE LARGEST FISH EVER CAUGHT ON A ROD AND REEL.
FRANK MUNDUS WAS A VERY FAMOUS SHARK FISHERMAN AND IS BELIEVED TO BE THE MAN THAT INSPIRED THE SHARK FISHERMAN IN THE ORIGINAL "JAWS" MOVIE. PETER BENCHLEY ACTUALLY WENT FISHING FOR GREAT WHITES WITH FRANK MUNDUS SHORTLY BEFORE HE STARTED ON "JAWS".
SO REAL IT IS HARD TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE FROM THE REAL THING. GREAT FOR DISPLAY AND EDUCATION OR A CONVERSATION PIECE.
I HAVE A COPY OF THE LETTER FROM JEANETTE MUNDUS TO JASON ORITI WHO BOUGHT THE ORIGINAL TOOTH. I WILL PROVIDE A COPY WITH EACH TOOTH PLUS A LETTER OF AUTHENTICITY FOR THE REPLICA. JASON GRACIOUSLY ALLOWED ME TO MAKE CASTS OF THE TOOTH. I THANK HIM FOR THAT. THIS TOOTH HAS HISTORY!
Frank Mundus
(October 21, 1925 – September 10, 2008) was a sport fisherman at
Montauk, New York
who is said to be the inspiration for the character
Quint
in the movie and book
Jaws
.

Up until his death, he chartered out his boat "Cricket II" for those seeking the thrill of big game fishing.
He started out as a shark hunter but then later became a shark conservationist.
Fiberglass copy of the 1986 shark depicted on the Lake Montauk waterfront
Mundus' early techniques, which included killing whales merely for
chum
and harpooning sharks (practices which are outlawed today), earned him criticism even at the time. In the last few years of his life Mundus had campaigned for shark fishermen to
catch and release
their prey including a conservation book "White Shark Sam Meets The Monster Man." In 2008 the Cricket spent much of the summer docked near
Atlantis Marine World
in
Riverhead, New York
where conservation of the predators was preached.
Mundus died on September 10, 2008, due to complications from a heart attack he suffered on September 6, the day he returned home to
Hawaii
after spending the summer in Montauk. According to his obituary he had spent the last night in Montauk aboard the Cricket 2 which had made him famous and had his heart attack in the Hawaii airport immediately after returning.
